The crescent moon has made its way across the sky We are finally standing at your door Another day is coming to a close Another day I was able to spend with you I walk behind you as we ascend the stairs and move down the hall We step into the darkness of your room The sound of you slipping your shoes off breaks the silence I reach out to find you You grab my hand and guide me towards you Pulling back your covers, you slip into bed I fumble for your night table and light a candle Its soft, flickering light fills the room I turn and see you watching me with a tired smile You roll onto your side and I come sit next to you on your bed Taking hold of the blanket, I tuck you in As I start to get up, you reach out from beneath your covers You take my hand and pull it back under with you You give it a firm squeeze, letting me know you want me to stay Reaching my other arm around you, I slowly lower myself down I gently kiss your lips I can feel our warmth as my body melts into you The passion flowing between our two hearts It transcends our physical touch, spiritually connecting our souls Joining us together as a fountain of God’s love The power of our kiss leaves me gasping for my breath I hug you tight and hold you in the dark When I sit back up, you snuggle up against me We talk for a while about our day together As we speak, I comfort you with my affectionate caress Moving my hand up your back, over your shoulder Losing it in your long hair Then back down to start all over again You close your eyes and listen to my voice I tell you about my love for you and how beautiful you are About how blessed I am to have you in my life About all the things you deserve to have I want to make your dreams come true You drift off to sleep, still holding my hand As I watch you, a thankful prayer runs through my mind What a wonderful gift to have you lying here Feeling you move gently against me as you breathe Knowing you are in the safest place you could be Hopefully there will come a time When you can wake in my arms with the morning sun I give you a soft kiss on your cheek and whisper goodnight I slowly rise, careful not to wake you Taking one last look at the woman I adore Quietly, I make my way down to the door The cool autumn breeze hits me, as I step out on the street It only makes me feel more alive I’m walking with my feet on the ground But I’m lost in the stars I have everything I want I’m in love with you
