Dear God, I’m down here on my knees calling faithfully to you I’m having a hard time and I need you to help me through I’ve never asked for much, I can’t say my life’s been bad But I’m praying to you now because I’m really sad Before I let you know why I’m feeling all this pain I want to tell you about a special girl, her name is Aubrey Lane Not long after we met, she became my closest friend All of the moments we spent together I never wanted them to end I found that through the day, she was all I was thinking of I slowly began to realize we’d fallen deep in love There’s something about staring into those warm hazel eyes That lifts my spirit higher than the highest of highs She has this beautiful smile that just lights up her face It blankets my heart with an innocence and grace When I feel overburdened with life’s heartache and stress She makes it all disappear with her comforting caress I always feel at home in her arms no matter how long I’ve been away It’s her voice I love hearing at the end of my day If someone around her is blue, she helps them see the light More than anyone else I’ve ever known, she tries to do what’s right There’s no such thing as a perfect person, I learned that long ago But I’m so completely in love with her; she’s the greatest girl I know For the longest time, I was so lost, not knowing what I should do Aubrey taught me how important it was for me to come looking for you So here I am now, I’m giving you all of my love I can finally feel your presence all around me and above I know I’m truly blessed, there’s so much to be thankful for That’s why I feel a little shame about asking you for more Life’s so complicated, you know how it can be For many different reasons, Aubrey’s not with me I’ve fought so hard to keep her close, till now it’s been enough But lately we’ve been struggling, it’s gotten really tough I don’t deserve a lot for all the bad things that I’ve done But if you could only answer a single prayer, let this be the one Help us to make it though this, be our loving guide Never make me let her go, please keep her by my side I’m not asking just for me, I know she loves me too All I want is the chance to try to make all of her dreams come true I promise I’ll protect her and always treat her right And when she’s feeling sick, I’ll be there to hold her through the night Everyday I’ll cherish her and show how much I care Anytime she needs my gentle hug, I’ll always be right there I promise to never hurt her, you can trust her heart to me I know you’ll be there to help me be the best man I can be Take away all my money and all the things it’s bought Take all that I’ve worked so hard for, take everything I’ve got Because they don’t give me the happiness I get from Aubrey’s charms I would give up everything just to hold her in my arms If you can’t grant me this prayer, I know I will survive But I’m going to keep on loving her for as long as I’m alive She’s so unforgettable, she’s touched my soul so deep Nothing will ever replace the precious memories of her I keep No matter how much time goes by, I’m forever going to miss The way she says, I love you with the passion in her kiss So I’ll let you think about it, let me know what you decide And know no matter what choice you make, I’ll faithfully abide If you put Aubrey’s hand in mine, you’ll satisfy my heart Then you can leave the rest to me, I’ll make sure we never grow apart But if you take her away from me, I’ll still give you my Amen I’ll need your spirit to carry me and help me love again
